Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen spend Thanksgiving in ER with sons

Modern Family costs Julie Bowen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are both feeling thankful after making separate trips to the emergency room on Thanksgiving with their respective sons.

Bowen, who played Type A mom Claire Dunphy in the sitcom hit, posted an Instagram photo On Thursday evening, one of her boys silhouetted against the glare from the entrance to the emergency room. “It’s not a vacation without a trip to the ER,” she wrote in the caption. She added: “(He’s fine btw) HAPPY THANKSGIVING.”

Regarding her former screen sibling, Ferguson wrote, “I’ve received a lot of parenting wisdom from @itsjuliebowen so it was comforting to see I wasn’t the only one with a kid in the ER on Thanksgiving.” Adding that his son is “doing fine too,” Ferguson thanked “the kind people at Lennox Health” and said New York City “really DOES have the best health care.”

Bowen shares three sons with ex-husband Scott Phillips, one born in April 2007 and twin boys born in May 2009, with whom she was pregnant while shooting Modern Family pilot. Ferguson and her husband, Justin Mikita, share two children, Beckett and Sullivan, born in 2020 and 2022.

All of them Modern Family The cast has remained close friends since the series ended in 2020. The adult actors recently reunited at the SAG Awards for an on-stage reunion, but they often spend time together outside of work. Ferguson even officiated the wedding of his TV niece Sarah Hyland The Bachelor franchise star Wells Adams (and both Bowen and Sofia Vergara were among the guests).

It’s probably still too early for one Modern Family reboot (although a Mitch and Cam spinoff was once considered), but shared holiday visits to the emergency room sound like a plotline straight out of the Emmy-winning series.

Let’s hope Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Phil (Ty Burrell) kept some turkey warm for their TV spouses.
