The Reagans will gather around their family dinner table one last time as fans say goodbye blue blood after 14 seasons.

The CBS drama premiered in 2010 and documented the life of Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and his law enforcement family.

In addition to the family patriarch, former Commissioner Henry Reagan (Lean Cariou) aka Pops, Frank has three children: Detective Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), ADA Erin (Bridget Moynahan) and Officer Jamie (Will Estes). Frank also shared a son Joe with his late wife, but he died in the line of duty before the events of Season 1.

CBS announced in November 2023 that the 14th and final season would be split into two parts. Part 1 ended in May and Part 2 started in October. The last stretch of eight sections ends in December – and Us has all the details on the series finale episode.

“I cried when I read the last episode,” Hawk, who plays Abigail Baker, told Exclusive Us Weekly in October. “There’s sadness, there’s joy, and it’s all wrapped up in the same beautiful final moments.”

She teased: “It’s going to be the best kind of heartbreak and the worst kind of joy.” Hawk insisted, “There will be satisfaction” for fans of Commissioner Reagan and his loved ones, noting that there is “no final end.”

Selleck has been vocal about his disappointment that the show was canceled TV Insider in October, “I’m a little frustrated.” He explained: “Over the last eight shows I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for blue blood but that it is still wildly successful.”

Selleck is still dealing with the show’s ending, especially since he said it was “taken for granted because it was appearing from the get-go.”

He confessed: “It’s going to take a long time to sort this all out. I remember after the weekend (of filming the final episode) I said, ‘I’ve got to go to bed early tonight because I’ve got to do my dialogue until Monday.’ Well, there was no Monday, it’s just going to take a while.”

Donnie Wahlberg remembers the shooting of the last scene

Describing his last day on set, Wahlberg noted that the most surprising part was that Selleck stopped by to watch his final scene.

“He was there watching. I looked across the room and saw him standing there,” Wahlberg recalled during an appearance in October Today show. “Tom he’s a really serious and focused man. He likes to cover up his emotions. He doesn’t like to show vulnerability.”

However, Selleck changed his tune while observing Wahlberg’s performance. “I looked over and he had tears in his eyes,” Wahlberg said. “That memory for me still brings a lot to my mind.”

Wahlberg concluded that he doesn’t want to say he’s “sad” after the show ended, but admitted it was “emotional”.

Moynahan confirmed in September that the series finale will include a final meal together. “There are some good revelations in the last episode of Season 14, which ends at that family dinner,” she shared Weekly entertainment then. “For us to go out on a special family dinner like that in our last episode, I think that will resonate with the fans. Fans will really get a kick out of some of them. And then maybe there’s a surprise that’s not so hopeful.”

Hawk exclusively told Us that her character didn’t make the final dinner, joking, “I’m super bummed about it, and that’s fine.” The actress revealed in October that Sid Gormley (Robert Clohessy) was also omitted.

“The Reagans are just people who understand that family is everything and that no matter what happens, you still have to eat,” Hawk shared, noting that the finale will come “full circle” for the group.
