Colorado football senior Shedeur Sanders adds to his trophy cabinet. On Friday, the NFL-bound quarterback was named the recipient of the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Sanders is the first Buffalo to win the Golden Arm Award, given annually to the nation’s best upperclassman quarterback. The award considers not only performance on the field, but also “character, citizenship, integrity and those who honor the game,” according to the award’s website.

This is the second straight year a CU player has earned a major college football award, following Travis Hunter’s 2023 Paul Hornung Award.

Sanders is enjoying an impressive final season in Boulder. He recently became the first CU quarterback to throw for 30 passing touchdowns in a season and owns the school record for passing yards in a regular season with 3,488 entering Friday’s finale.
