Giants-Cowboys inactive: Tommy DeVito will not play against the Cowboys

Quarterback Tommy DeVito is not expected to play Thursday for the New York Giants because of a right (throwing) forearm injury, per a report by Adam Schefter. Drew Lock, the Giants’ third starting quarterback in as many games, is expected to start against Dallas Cowboys.

Lock, signed in the offseason to back up Jones, was passed over for DeVito last week after the Giants benched and ultimately released Jones. The Giants mustered little offense on Sunday in another 30-7 loss Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If DeVito can’t play and Lock starts, the backup quarterback would be journeyman Tim Boyle. Boyle replaced Daniel Jones on the 53-man roster when Jones was waived last week.

The Giants will also be without starting left tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who suffered a quad injury against the Buccaneers, and cornerback Deonte Banks, who has a rib injury. Journeyman Chris Hubbard will likely get the start in Eluemunor’s place. The Giants lifted cornerback Greg Stroman from the practice squad for help at cornerback.
