W&M enters the regular season finale with a 7-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark in CAA play after posting a 22-12 victory against Bryant on Senior Day last weekend. The Tribe currently ranks fourth nationally in rushing (248.1) and is among the nation’s top 20 in total offense (435.8), third down conversion percentage (50.0) and first downs (253). Defensively, W&M has recorded at least one interception in eight straight games and is tied for third in the CAA with 10 picks. In addition, the Tribe’s defense has allowed just 40 points during the fourth quarter this season – a number that ranks second in the league.

Having already clinched at least a share of the CAA title, Richmond has won nine straight games after opening its season with back-to-back losses. One of those setbacks came at home against Wofford (19-26), a team W&M defeated on the road (28-21) in September. The Spiders boast one of the CAA’s top defensive units and rank second in the league in scoring defense (19.1). Additionally, UR ranks fourth in the conference with 390.3 total yards per carry. match.

Saturday’s game between W&M and UR will mark the 135th meeting between the two schools in what has traditionally been called “the oldest rivalry in the South” – but can more accurately be described as the most PLAYED rivalry in the South. UR owns a 65-64-5 edge in the series. The teams first met in 1898 when Richmond blanked W&M 15-0. Only three other Division I series have a longer history than W&M vs. CLOCK.
