Gilbert Days will close roads in the city on Saturday

The annual Gilbert Days Parade and Gilbert Half Marathon, 10K and 5K on Saturday, November 23 will result in several road restrictions and closures throughout Gilbert.

Gilbert Half Marathon, 10K and 5K details

The Gilbert Half Marathon begins and ends at Verde at Cooley Station. The street route will run north and south along Recker Road between Williams Field Road and the Western Powerline Trail.

The start time for the half marathon is 7.00, and the expected end time is no later than 11 a.m.

Lane closures for the half marathon will be in effect at the following intersections in all directions:

  • Williams Field and Recker Roads: 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.;
  • Ray and Recker Roads: 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.;
  • Warner and Recker Roads: 6 am to 10 am;
  • Elliot and Recker Roads: 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m

Gilbert Days Parade details

  • Gilbert Road will be closed from Guadalupe Road to Hackamore Street from 5 to 11. Elliot Road will be closed in all directions at the Gilbert Road junction between Burk and Ash Streets.

  • Parade participants will perform on both the northbound and southbound sides of Gilbert Road between Juniper Avenue and Guadalupe Road and in the southeast and southwest mall parking lots of Gilbert and Guadalupe Roads.

  • At At 8:30 a.m., the parade heads south on Gilbert Road from Juniper Avenue to the Gilbert Public Schools District Office just south of Elliot Road. The parade is expected to end at 10:30 a.m., and Gilbert Road is expected to reopen at 11 a.m

Parade parking

Parking on Gilbert Road is not permitted at any time. Parking will be available at various locations in the downtown heritage district, including free Vaughn Ave and Hearne Way parking garages.

Public transport

Please note that there may be delays in the Valley Metr o bus service during these events. Certain bus stops will be closed and the following routes will be detoured to accommodate the parade and half marathon:

Companies

Vehicles will not be allowed on Gilbert Road from 06.00, including business deliveries. Let customers and staff know that businesses are accessible from surrounding streets and/or on foot.

The city is encouraging businesses along the parade and half marathon route to take advantage of the large volume of potential customers through special promotions, sales and decorations.

Neighborhoods

There will be increased traffic in these areas during these events.

Neighborhoods along the half marathon route will be accessible at all times through at least one or more neighborhood entrances/exits.

Residents who live in areas of the parade route that are only accessible via Gilbert Road will not be able to access Gilbert Road between 6 and 11. Residents should plan accordingly. Emergency access will be available.
