Former Ohio State football quarterback Justin Fields is on his way back to Columbus.

Fields, the backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will serve as the celebrity guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday in Columbus for the No. 2 Buckeyes‘ match against no. 5 Indiana.

Fields, who played for the Buckeyes from 2019 and 2020, was a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year at Ohio State before being selected No. 11 overall to the Chicago Bears in the 2021 NFL draft. He took Ohio State to the 2021 College Football Playoff national championship game, where it fell to Alabama 52–24.

Fields is the third straight former Ohio State player to serve as the Buckeyes’ guest selector on “GameDay,” with fellow NFL quarterback CJ Stroud and former NFL linebacker AJ Hawk appearing in games against Penn State in 2023 and Michigan, respectively in 2022.

The 25-year-old quarterback was number 2 in the recruiting class in 2018, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He spent his freshman season at Georgia before transferring to Ohio State, where he threw for 5,373 yards with 63 touchdowns to nine interceptions and also rushed for 867 yards with 15 touchdowns.

The Steelers played on “Thursday Night Football,” which allowed Fields to take the weekend off from the NFL slate. It comes at a great time as he will get to watch his former school take on a top-five, undefeated Indiana team.
