Nixa advances, Marionville falls as the state football playoffs continue

MARIONVILLE, Mo – The Marionville Comets fell just short in their hopes of back-to-back Class 1 state championships.

Adrian built a 17-8 lead in the fourth quarter against Marionville.

The Comets rallied but fell a point short and lost 17-16.

In Lee’s Summit, the Nixa Eagles capitalized on a drive late in the fourth quarter.

Lee’s Summit North led 20-14 with ten seconds left in the game when Nixa’s Adam McKnight hit Wyatt Vincent with a 19-yard touchdown pass.

The Eagles win 21-20 and advance to the Class 6 semifinals.
